چکیده

Abstract Introduction Total knee and hip arthroplasty significantly improve quality of life in people suffering from end-stage & arthritides. Enhanced recovery programs have shown improved outcomes following elective by decreasing patients anxiety, postoperative pain reducing the length hospital stay (LOS). Preoperative pain level and patient expectation predict hospital length of stay after total hip arthroplasty.

The purpose of this study was to identify preoperative predictors of length of stay after primary total hip arthroplasty in a patient population reflecting current trends toward shorter hospitalization and using readily obtainable factors that do not require scoring systems. A retrospective review of 112 consecutive patients was performed. High preoperative pain level and patient expectation of...

Factors influencing postoperative length of stay in an enhanced recovery after surgery program for primary total knee arthroplasty

BACKGROUND Hospital length of stay (LOS) after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has decreased obviously following the implementation of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program in the last few years. However, there are still some patients that cannot be discharged at early time for a variety of reasons, and it is necessary to explore factors leading to prolonged LOS. Therefore, the p...
